Below is a table that contains the most horrible statistics we have ever seen. They are caused by ignorance, complacency, and a general disregard for those beings, we have made totally dependent upon us for their daily survival. These numbers make our eyes well up when we realize that each of them represent a life - That used to be. A loving and loyal friend - yesterday. That cute and cuddly little fur baby that caught your eye one day - but is now inconvenient. The solution is simple.
EDUCATION - The mind is a terrible thing to waste!
And so are these little souls that did not ask to be born, abandoned or euthanized.

Each one of us can help stop the tragedy of too many pets by taking three simple steps:
Adopt your next companion animal from a shelter so no more healthy animals have to die simply because there aren’t enough homes for them all.
Have all your pets spayed or neutered. Preventing more births is critical to breaking the overpopulation cycle.
Be a responsible pet owner. Protect your pets with current identification tags and don’t let them roam.
Public and private animal shelters are
filled with dogs and cats in virtually every community across the United
States. There are lost pets whose owners can’t be found. There are pets
whose owners can no longer keep them. There are younger animals, older
animals, mixed breeds, and purebreds. They all have at least one thing in
common: each is hoping for a permanent and loving home.
Unfortunately for most of these animals, there will be no new home. Why?
Not enough people choose to adopt their animal companions from a shelter.
The solution to this tragic problem starts with you. When you’re ready
to add a cat or dog to your family, visit your local animal shelter. Until
healthy animals in shelters are no longer being euthanized—until there
are none—adopt one.

Pet Overpopulation:
As a nation, we claim to love cats and dogs. Millions of households have companion animals and billions of dollars are spent yearly on pet supplies and food. But as a nation, we should be ashamed that another statistic runs into the millions each year: the number of dogs and cats given up to shelters or left to die on our streets because of pet owners’ irresponsibility.
The numbers tell only half the story. Every cat or dog who dies as a result of pet overpopulation—whether humanely in a shelter or by injury, disease, or neglect—is a living, breathing, feeling being who, more often than not, would make a wonderful companion if given the chance.
As tremendous as the
problem of pet overpopulation is, it can be taken on if each of us takes
just one small step, starting with not allowing our own animals to breed.
The more we all do, the closer we can come to a solution.
So. What is the problem with Buying Pet Store Dogs? |
Now, let's talk about Adoption. If there is a particular breed that you are fond of, with a little help from your local Rescue agencies and shelters, you can find the perfect little addition to your family. You can also "adopt" in other ways. A gift of love goes a long way. We chose to add Fawn to our family.
Whitaker's Sassy Suzi, Whitaker's Ebony Magic and the newest member of our family, Whitaker's Fawn Honey need Everyone's Help! We recently adopted Fawn as our new sister and created this link to help make people aware of the problem.
Please Click on the Picture of Fawn (above) and visit the the Wahoo Tribe's Adoption Page. This Page is heavy in Graphics and takes time to load, PLEASE wait, you will be glad you did!
Remember, Do not ever buy from Puppy Mills, Pet Stores or Back Yard Breeders, if you do this abuse will only continue. Please, Educate yourself before bringing that new baby into your home.
Please take a moment and read The Longest Walk. This is a short, heart wrenching and true story!
